First Nations Climate Leadership Meeting

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada

A National Hybrid Meeting Series on Indigenous Climate Leadership

The First Nations Climate Leadership Meeting series provided a vital space for Indigenous leaders, representatives, and communities to come together to share knowledge, build relationships, and discuss self-determined action on climate change. These gatherings honoured the unique rights, knowledge, and authority of Indigenous Nations while fostering collaboration toward shared goals.

Over three national hybrid meetings, participants engaged in open dialogue that supported the development of collaborative decision-making processes, holistic supports, and fiscal frameworks to advance Indigenous Climate Leadership. Each meeting was grounded in cultural safety and respect, creating an environment where Indigenous voices and perspectives led the way.

We were honoured to support this important work from the earliest planning stages through to final reporting. We took great care to manage logistics and cultural protocols so participants could focus on the conversations and connections that mattered.

Our role included:

  • Project management and coordination of three hybrid meetings with 100+ attendees each
  • Registration, communications, and travel management to support participation across the nation
  • Audio-visual and technical services to seamlessly connect in-person and virtual participants
  • Facilitation and cultural protocol coordination with Elders, including welcome ceremonies and prayers
  • Subcontractor management including venue, accommodation, and AV providers
  • Honorarium administration to ensure barrier-free participation
  • Notetaking, meeting summaries, and final reporting to capture key insights and inform next steps

By carefully balancing logistical precision with deep cultural respect, these meetings created a trusted space where Indigenous leaders could explore innovative climate solutions and strengthen their collective voice. Naut’sa mawt Event Management was honoured to contribute to this important work, helping to amplify Indigenous-led action toward a sustainable and resilient future.
